EXPORT DIVISION
Export Division is located at the Dongguan production facility and employs some 1,650 staff. Its primary focus is
production of both hard and soft cover colour books for export to the North American, Australian and European
markets. Products include trade books, children’s books, colour book-sets, book-plus items and calendars. The
factory complies with Disney’s code of conduct and has ISO9001, ISO14001, ICTI, FSC and PEFC certifications. Its
capabilities include computer-to-plate (CTP) technology, sheet-fed litho printing in up to eight colours plus
ultra-violet or aqueous coating in-line. Binding options include hardback, paperback, wire-o, spiral, comb and
ring-binding, as well as hand-assembly. CTP services include colour correction, copy-dot and digital printing.
The finishing capabilities include spot U.V. varnishing, sheet laminating, foil edge-gilding, foil stamping,
embossing or de-bossing, die-cutting and punching.
Book Production
Hard cover (case-bound) and soft cover
For over 49 years, Toppan Leefung (Hong Kong) has been a respected manufacturer of high quality hard cover books.
Customers have included many of the world's largest publishers of trade, educational and juvenile books. Export
Division’s line of hard cover (case-bound), soft cover (sewn) and soft cover (perfect-bound) products include
four-colour trade books, art books, educational textbooks, teachers’ manuals, catalogues and juvenile books.
Post-press finishing can also employ a variety of special binding methods such as exposed or concealed wire-O,
spiral-binding, comb-binding, saddle-stitching, ring-binding and hand assembly.
Children's Books
With one million square feet at the Dongguan factory, Export Division can significantly expand its ability to
manufacture children's books of all types. Now a primary product line for the company, children's book types
include mini's, shape books, board books, books with sound and those with special enclosures designed for items
such as compact discs. Most of these products require hand-assembly techniques and an experienced workforce large
enough to turnaround even the largest projects. The hand assembly section alone employs between 500 and 700 skilled
workers dedicated just to children's book assembly.
Specialty Products
Given the variety of equipment and processes, the company also produces new and often unusual non-book products
which utilize the same equipment and hand assembly capabilities. Regularly produced non-book products include
stationery sets, greeting cards, card sets, tray sets, book-plus items, wall or boxed calendars, game sets,
puzzles, and albums. Components for these products are often supplied by the customers themselves or are acquired
for them by the Export Division’s Sourcing Department.
Additional Services
Export Division also offers its customers assistance in product design. The R&D group can assist in
designing and building models or dummies to ensure product functionality and find the best and cheapest production
methods. The Sourcing Department can also help find those special non-print-related items to help complete projects
on time. Besides actually producing products, the company can also assist in the design and production of packaging
for both retail display and shipping.
